OG Swaggerdick – “London”

By: Seamus Fay

OG Swaggerdick is a man of many hats — a part-time mayor of Boston, a teacher, a prophet, a musician, a style icon, a trendsetter, and more. His galvanizing energy never ceases to electrify any mic, stage, or street corner he touches, and today, we receive a brand new gospel from the man himself, packaged in the form of a new single entitled “London”. Acting as an anthem for the money-minded fans, all the while catering to humans of any kind (whether they skate or are in jail for life, as Swaggerdick notes) and inviting them all to the party that is this song, the latest from OG is one of his most exuberant acts of community yet.

The truth is, no matter how you interpret OG Swaggerdick’s music, you have to admit that he is one of the most positive people in music right now. OG is always having fun, he always makes sure everyone is welcomed, and he’ll never count someone out for being themselves. The Boston native, eclectic yet infectious in his ways, makes life fun even when it isn’t, and for that, you can’t help but love his personality and music alike. That said, “London” fits right into this blueprint of hard-hitting songs and wise scriptures that fit under the umbrella of OG Swaggerdick, so be sure not to miss out on this one.

OG Swaggerdick – “Lil Booties Matter” [Prod. Tee-WaTT & M. Ali]

By: Seamus Fay

Hands down, OG Swaggerdick is the undying voice of our generation. His relentless proclamations of the truth never fail to resonate with the people in their hearts and in their souls, and today, he maintains this status with a brand new single entitled “Lil Booties Matter”. It’s the anthem we didn’t know we needed, and if there’s anyone that’s going to bring such an important sentiment to the light, it’s going to be OG Swaggerdick, in a manner equally as serious as it is entertaining. That being said, pay attention as we unravel this one a bit further.

Produced by Tee-WaTT and M. Ali, this song is hypnotic look into the wonderful mind of such a charismatic character of an artist. The beat takes us into a sparkling, upbeat world of sound where lil booties most certainly matter, and as weird as it may seem, instrumentals such as this one are where OG does his finest work, in my opinion. He’s a natural entertainer in every sense of the word, and keeping it exciting with every successive bar on this release, fans are never left without a brand new quotable to hold on to. That being said, get in tune with current events and pay attention to the newest, groundbreaking offering from OG Swaggerdick.

OG Swaggerdick – “F**k Gentrification”

By: Seamus Fay

No matter what role he assumes at a given moment, OG Swaggerdick is an incredibly unique artist in regards to his abilities as a natural performer. A renaissance man in and of himself, it’s always going to be a great day when we receive a new dose of this natural energy from the Boston native, and today, he unleashes this sentiment full force in his latest offering, “F**k Gentrification”. Fueled by the influx of people who consequently raise prices, fail to respect the culture of an area, and more, this song and video work together to tell us how Swaggerdick feels.

Spoiler alert, he’s not a fan. And I don’t blame him. “F**k Gentrification” may be a perfect example of OG’s role as someone who can always put on a show, but the fact of the matter is that gentrification is a serious problem, and this song is the anthem to soundtrack the moment. Backed by a ruthless, key-led melody and deeply-cut drums, we hear OG at his best, complemented by illustrative visuals courtesy of @Bt.Livin. All in all, this standout release definitely speaks for itself, so I’ll leave it there for you to check the video out for yourself.

The Top 50 New England Songs of 2017

By: Seamus Fay

Looking back, 2017 was a year of immense growth for New England and specifically Massachusetts’ budding music scene. We were fortunate enough to see the rise of many new talents as well as watch some of the more established artists prosper in their own ways, and frankly, it was inspiring to us to see the work that the artists, the producers, the photographers, the graphic designers, the mixers, the managers, etc. have been putting in. Without all of these people playing their respective roles, our scene wouldn’t be where it is today.

Having said that, we here at Graduation Music collaborated with Fresh Out The Mint to compile a list of the “Top 50 New England Songs of 2017” (in our humble opinion). Below is the playlist of all the tracks – enjoy!
