Gio Dee – “Hurt Me” [Prod. Wheezy]

By: Seamus Fay

Taking a look at the level of quality that has consistently graced Gio Dee’s catalog in the past, it goes without saying that everytime the Boston native decides to drop off some music, it’s gonig to turn some heads. Today, this theory is proven true as Dee makes his way back to Graduation Music with a brand new single entitled “Hurt Me”. While we haven’t heard anything new from the budding star in what seems like a minute, this song puts any and all worry to rest, denoting that Gio Dee is back and better than ever.

That said, if there’s anyone who knows how to bring out the best in Dee, it has to be the producer at hand on this one: Wheezy. While every new single from the Boston representative is sure to impress, “Hurt Me” almost feels like a cut above the rest, watching the game from a bird’s eye view as Dee unleashes a lethal supply of well-executed rhymes. His flows and cadences are polished as ever, maximizing the potential of his artistry in ways that make for an unforgettable single.

Gio Dee is a name that you never want to sleep on, so be sure to show some love and check out “Hurt Me” at the link provided below!

Gio Dee – “Cost [Intervention Freestyle]” [Prod. Snapz]

By: Seamus Fay

Namely one of the most talented artists in Boston right now, Gio Dee has been on an insuppressible rise to the top over the past few years. His music never fails to take anthemic direction, and today, we see an example of this once again as Dee drops off a brand new song entitled “Cost [Intervention Freestyle]”. But this release is a little bit different.

Instead of including the full track, the freestyle holds a wide-open spot for a second verse over the backing of stellar production from Snapz. It’s a unique opportunity and one that is definitely worth jumping on, so much so that Dee made sure to include how artists can get involved in the description for the track on SoundCloud. Following is what he wrote:

Artists! Record a 2nd verse with the hashtag #CostFreestyle to submit for your chance to shoot the video w/ Gio Dee!

SuperSmashBroz – “U Thought” ft. Polo $ummers & Gio Dee

By: Seamus Fay

Pertaining to the Massachusetts music community, one of 2017’s standout events was when the SuperSmashBroz blessed us all with their compilation mixtape, Family Cookout. Featuring music from an abundance of talents from the area as well as a number of highly-anticipated collaborations, this tape showed us all just how “for the city” the brotherly DJ duo really is, as they continue to represent their city in the best light possible. Today, they revisit this family affair with a set of comprehensive visuals for one of the standout tracks from the project, “U Thought” featuring frequent collaborators and fellow dynamic duo, Polo $ummers and Gio Dee.

Produced by Lil Rich and Dreaveli, the song itself kicks off the energy on an electrifying note, giving fans ample reason to put their faith behind the Boston-born collaboration and even more reason to keep “U Thought” on repeat all summer long. The visuals put this warm-weathered, ambitious feeling on a pedestal, taking to barbershop scenery to show the fans a familiar background where $ummers and Dee can show off their signature, charismatic flows in an environment that fits the sonic background of the song. “U Thought” is the first step into what will undoubtedly be a huge summer for the SuperSmashBroz, so be sure not to sleep.

Gio Dee – “Told Ya” ft. Polo $ummers [Music Video]

By: Seamus Fay

In my time running Graduation Music, I’ve realized that as a writer, you often start to pick up on trends of which artists work best together. One of these unstoppable duos that stuck out since the very beginning is that of Gio Dee and Polo $ummers – two Boston natives destined to garner attention far beyond their hometown as time moves on. Today, they revisit just one of their several standout collaborations, providing a visual companion for the anthemic offering, “Told Ya”.

Illustrating the smooth deliveries and melodic production courtesy of NIAGGI on the song, the video for this one takes to bright coloring and flex-worthy scenery of women as it lets the fans know how Dee and $ummers flex. They bring the energy with a shared, signature effortlessness, and in doing so, provide just the right mood to complement the video and make sure it comes together cohesively. And that, it does. “Told Ya” was already a great song to start with, but now that we have the music video to match, it definitely takes the standout single to the next level.

To make up for it, we present to our readers a 15-track playlist of some of our favorite local songs at the moment!

Some tracks are older, some newer, but regardless, these are a few standout releases that you need to get hip to if you weren’t already. Check the playlist out below:

Gio Dee – “Twenty 6 EP”

By: Seamus Fay

Considering the reputation he has developed within Boston as a force to be reckoned with, the name “Gio Dee” requires no introduction on our pages at this point, and rightfully so. Today, Dee is back yet again to bless us with his latest offering by the name of the Twenty 6 EP. But before we begin, keep in mind that this project contains the very sounds and characteristics that led us to fall in love with Gio Dee’s music in the first place, so I can just about guarantee that our readers are going to love it just as much as I personally did.

This EP may only be 7 tracks long, but now that we have received the final product after a few weeks of promo via Twitter, I must say that it smashes all of the already-high expectations that I set in my head. Gio Dee inarguably knows how to craft a hit, and with his latest offering he shows us that his effortless style is able to communicate this sentiment without ever feeling forced in the slightest bit. Songs like “100K” and “Benji” seemingly roll right off of the tongue, reminding listeners and fans alike that there’s a reason or two why Gio Dee is one of Boston’s top runners right now. The success is apparent, the talent is clearly apparent, and the city loves it.

I could go on about this project all day, but be sure to check it out for yourself at the link below and get hip to what could be the next star out of MA!

ONE-H – “Deal” ft. Gio Dee [Prod. Lo Life Beats]

By: Seamus Fay

Looking back at the amount of standout tracks offered to fans by Gio Dee throughout the past few months, there exists unrivaled proof that he’s one of Boston’s top runners at the moment. We here at Graduation Music have covered nearly all of Dee’s recent work, and with the win streak that he’s on right now, it only follows that 2018 will be a big year for the standout talent. Today, he joins our pages once again and introduces us to Plymouth artist ONE-H for an incredible new track titled “Deal”.

For starters, it must be known that the reason I mention Gio Dee first is because, admittedly, I wasn’t hip to ONE-H until this song. However, hearing his performance on this one, I must say that I was taken back by how hard he goes both as an individual as well as alongside Dee. The two achieve a seamless chemistry together, and speaking to the smooth production courtesy of Lo Life Beats on this track, both of the rising talents find themselves delivering infectious verses in complementary manners toward one another. “Deal” is an incredibly solid collaborative track, so be sure to give it a listen below and don’t sleep on ONE-H in the future like we did!

Gio Dee & Polo $ummers – “Blacked”

By: Seamus Fay

I have said it before and I’ll say it again: the chemistry between Gio Dee and Polo $ummers is truly some of the best in the city right now. They have blessed us with numerous anthems in the past including my personal favorites, “Told Ya” and “Real”, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to the array of hits that they in the vault. Today, these two standout talents are back once again to visit Graduation Music with their latest single, “Blacked”, and it might just be one of their best yet.

For starters, this track’s melodic touch and booming 808s via Banbwoi immediately give it the signature sound that Dee and $ummers have proven to thrive on time and time again. Once the atmosphere is set up just right, each of the two young artists absolutely floats over the wavy production, coming together to give us yet another hit song to keep on repeat for all of 2018.

Having said that, “Blacked” is only further proof of the talent behind this Jordan-Pippen duo, and based on how hard this one goes, I can only imagine what else these two rising stars have in store for the rest of the year. Be sure to show some love by listening to the new single below.

ChefBoyz – “Issues” ft. Gio Dee, Polo $ummers, Buddy L.U.V. & Seuss

By: Seamus Fay

Gio Dee, Polo $ummers, Buddy L.U.V., and Seuss – all names that are making waves here in Boston as some of the most promising young talents in the city. Each artist has their own wave, but when they all join forces and put together the dream team, the energy they share turns into quite the force to be reckoned with. Here enters the latest offering from this group of hitmakers titled “Issues”.

Acting as a posse cut of sorts, this track watches each artist trading verses with one another as it sheds light on the individual talents of everyone while still functioning quite well as a collective. The hard-hitting production courtesy of Niaggi is a cherry on top, and it truly seems like every aspect of this single meshes into a well-crafted piece that I’ll certainly have on repeat for the weeks to come.

By: Seamus Fay

Looking back, 2017 was a year of immense growth for New England and specifically Massachusetts’ budding music scene. We were fortunate enough to see the rise of many new talents as well as watch some of the more established artists prosper in their own ways, and frankly, it was inspiring to us to see the work that the artists, the producers, the photographers, the graphic designers, the mixers, the managers, etc. have been putting in. Gio Dee – “Told Ya” ft. Polo $ummers

By: Seamus Fay

Never ceasing to come through with smooth vocals and an ample supply of emotion, Gio Dee and Polo $ummers have quickly identified themselves as standout names in their hometown of Boston. Together, the duo is virtually unstoppable, proving to be a consistent team with their newest offering “Told Ya”. If you ever doubted either artist, just know that they told you they could make it – and just that is what they’ve done. The hypnotic single, laidback with floating deliveries, reflects on hard work and the success it has yielded. “Told Ya” also furthers itself as proof that both Dee and $ummers are creating their own wave right now, daring anyone to doubt them as they rise to the top.

With Gio Dee’s forthcoming project SuperPowers coming this December, this single is a perfect preview for the heat to come. One aspect of the versatile artist’s skills that I first became a fan of was his ability to talk of success with such a veteran’s perspective, all the while portraying his hopeful perspective for the future to come. By mixing the two elements, Dee is able to create atmospheres of relatability for fans, making the listener’s experience with every release one to remember. “Told Ya” is ready to do numbers, so hop on the wave by clicking play below.
