Madeline Kassen – “Wonder in a Bottle”

By: Seamus Fay

It’s a difficult feeling to translate into words, but some music just connects with a listener right off of the bat. Such is the feeling that I get when listening to Madeline Kassen — a Boston-based singer whose dreamy vocals will put you in a trance after just a few notes. Today, we’re here to make her talents known to our readers in the context of the gorgeous single, “Wonder in a Bottle”. About a year old now, this may be one of her older singles, but from a listener’s perspective, this track feels to be a perfect introduction to the captivating talents of the soon-to-be star — not to mention the fact that I’ve had it on repeat all afternoon long.

What “Wonder in a Bottle” is able to achieve in just under three minutes is what makes it such an impressive offering. Kassen wastes no time in transporting listeners to a faraway place with her hypnotic cadences, and the lyrics only follow this up, creating a curious world of Kassen’s creation that you can’t help but fall in love with. This is one of the best songs I’ve stumbled on in a minute, and while I know I could write about this one all day long, the true magic of the song is felt if you just check it out for yourself.

Madeline Kassen hopes to capture wonder in a bottle, but by the sounds of it, she’s done so with this very song.

Oh, and let’s not skip over the fact that this Boston talent truly does it all, as she’s credited for the lyrics, composition, vocals, keys, and production on this song. Wow.
