Patrick Michel – Side Effects [Album]

By: Seamus Fay

Brockton’s Patrick Michel has been on my radar for some time now, and based on his two previous releases, “Water Whippin” and “Off The Shits“, I was sure that his debut project would be something special. Even with that being said, Side Effects has completely exceeded my expectations. It showcases all of Michel’s abilities perfectly, including his incredibly soulful voice, genius songwriting in terms of relatability and how descriptive it is, and his knack for picking beats that compliment his vocals best.

At the moment, my favorite songs are “Intro”, “Hallelujah”, and “Perfect”, but every time I listen I find myself liking something new. One special aspect of Side Effects is how well it flows together, telling so much about the man behind it all and what his life is like. Michel’s confidence and charisma shine through on every track, making it a strong project start to back. There is no doubt in my mind that it will be huge, and I can’t wait to see where it takes the Brockton native. I could keep going on and on about how good this project is, but you need to listen for yourself. You can hear the project in full below.

P.S. – Shoutout to Greg Gaffney for snapping on the cover art, too.
